    Description:

LIVE STREAMING OF ORGAN AND SONG RECITAL

The orchestra was to be playing in a concert at St Mellitus this Sunday, 13 December.  This was to be not only our usual Christmas concert but also a celebration of the centenary and the restoration of the Hunter memorial organ at St Mellitus. Although the planned concert had to be cancelled as a result of the pandemic, the celebration will still go ahead as an organ and song recital.  There will be no live audience but the recital will be streamed (as our concert would have been) and our concert manager and cellist Nick Singer is organising the live streaming.

The Hunter memorial organ was built to commemorate the local men who fought in the First World War.  It's exactly 100 years since the organ’s first public performance and this ‘king of instruments’ has now been restored to its former glory, thanks to generous support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and friends and parishioners of St Mellitus. For more information about the project  visit www.stmellitusorgan.co.uk or follow it on social media @stmellitusorgan

The recital is given by James Orford, Organist in Residence at Westminster Cathedral and renowned Tenor, Ruairi Bowen. There are more details and a link for the live streaming at  www.stmellitusorgan.co.uk/concert

This a free concert, but if you would like to make a donation the Organ Project is  still fundraising for educational and community projects, including a music scholarship with local school children: https://stmellitusorgan.co.uk/donate/
