SUMMARY:Spring Concert 2025
DESCRIPTION:\n	\n \n \n Conductor: Oliver Till\n\n Leader: Tina Bowl
 es\n Mozart - Sinfonia Concertante K 364 -&nbsp\;Soloists Lucy Hewson (V
iolin) and Nichola Blakey (Viola)\n Rachmaninoff - Symphonic Dances - wi
th artwork projections by William Lindley\n \n \n \n London Medical
Orchestra&#39\;s Spring concert showcases the works of two musical giants\
, Mozart and Rachmaninoff\, composed during their time abroad and in exile
.\n \n Lucy Hewson (violin) and Nichola Blakey (viola) are guest soloi
sts in Mozart&#39\;s iconic Sinfonia Concertante K 364\, written when he w
as aged 23\, during a European tour.\n \n The second half of our conce
rt features Rachmaninoff&#39\;s Symphonic Dances\, his final masterpiece\,
composed in the USA after he fled Europe in 1939. Nostalgia permeates the
work\, with the composer referencing his own earlier works in poignant wa
ys. The second movement\, a distorted and grotesque waltz\, builds relentl
essly before evaporating into thin air\, and the Finale\, a chase sequence
writ large\, unfolds on a grand scale\, building towards a symbolic victo
 ry of life over death.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Following our su
ccessful collaboration in 2022 (The Firebird)\, we have commissioned artwo
rk projections from William Lindley for Rachmaninoff&#39\;s Symphonic Danc
